ACA to introduce the case of the cashew sector to the Ghanaian Parliament

On 10th March 2017, a team from the African Cashew Alliance met with the Honorable Augustine Collins Ntim, Member of Parliament of Offinso North Constituency, Ashanti region who was recently appointed as the Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development. The ACA Interim Managing Director Ernest Mintah and his team used the opportunity to introduce the Alliance and its interventions, particularly those in the value addition segment of the cashew sector in Ghana, which in a way fits into the current government’s manifesto of “...one district, one factory”.

Hon. Ntim added that the government plans to create a Cashew Board, which would regulate the sector, provide more support to producer’s access to improved varieties and assistance to apply good agricultural policies. Ghana has the potential to be part of the best producing countries in the world, he said.

ACA is honored to be working with the Ghanaian government and committed to give its full support to the initiatives of the government, to facilitate partnerships, to leverage funds, and to provide technical assistance in the value addition segment as well as support in the development of the sector’s trade regulation and policies in the cashew value chain for Ghana.
